Where the Olsens go from here

A few years ago everything must have seemed so simple for Mary-Kate and Ashley. They were still in a safe place; Mary-Kate still consumed food and so forth. Now though they appear to be at some what of a crossroads and picking the wrong path could be disastrous.

The problem is, you can't have one without the other, it's like Ant and Dec. But fractures are appearing – Mary-Kate is heading back to California to study rather than spending the next semester at NYU, Ashley is planning to go it alone as a fashion model. Anyone else see this not ending well?

What is probably the most worrying thing though is the possibility of the media turning on them. At the moment they are viewed as the cute and innocent ones, much like Britney Spears used to be. And look what happened to Britney. She grew up now the media hates her and it makes everyone else do too. Possible Olsen future? I wouldn't count it out.

Of course doing films like New York Minute isn't going to help them any. But what other films are they supposed to do? Was it really any worse than for example Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (did Lindsay Lohan not read the script before taking the role or did she genuinely think any kid would enjoy that?).

As an Olsen twins fan I would hate to see them end up with the same image as Britney has. But stories about Ashlee Simpson style and indeed related with boyfriend swapping and secretly smoking in hotel bathrooms isn't going to help you keep that perfect image.
