Jessica Biel

29 October 2005 16:08 pm

Jessica Claire Biel was born on March 3, 1982 in Minnesota. As a child, Biel moved several times, but even today, she calls Boulder, Colorado her home. She was very active as a young girl, taking dance lessons, gymnastics, and voice lessons, but ultimately, Jessica's true love of acting became clear. Jessica performed in many musicals across the country, but nothing major sprouted from these opportunities, until she was 11 years old, and attended the 1994 International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) convention in Los Angeles.

Biel performed exceptionally well at this convention, and earned a scholarship to the Young Actor's Space, which is one of the premiere acting schools in the country. Biel spent the next three years auditioning for various TV shows and commercials, and at the age of 14, all of her hard work paid off, as she landed the role of Mary Camden, on TV drama, 7th Heaven.

Within the same week of landing the 7th Heaven part, Biel also landed her first role in a major feature film, as she played along side Golden Globe winner Peter Fonda, in Ulee's Gold. Growing up as a teenager, a majority of Biel's life was spent on the set of 7th Heaven, so much so, that she often refers to the cast as her second family. After completing high school, Jessica attended two years of college at Tufts University, however, do to her overwhelming Hollywood career, she decided to return to the set of 7th Heaven, and shoot yet another season, of the then very popular TV drama.

Biel decided to depart from 7th Heaven, in 2001, wanting to focus more on her movie career, and remove her "saintly image" that she claims was created by 7th Heaven. Throughout the next couple of years, Jessica starred in several large scale movies, including: Summer Catch (2001), The Rules of Attraction (2002), Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Blade: Trinity (2004), and Stealth (2005). The films ranged in success, but overall the critics were never thrilled with Biel's performances.

Nether the less, Biel is still a highly sought after young actress, and was even named "The Sexiest Woman Alive" by Esquire Magazine. She has also been ranked #98 on VH1's list of Hottest Hotties, and #99 in Stuff Magazine's 102 Sexiest Women in the World. Biel's sexuality ended up causing a fairly large controversy in 2000, when she posed topless for Gear Magazine, despite the fact she was only 17 years of age. Her decision to do the shoot was primarily based on her frustration with 7th Heaven limiting her film career, but was a decision she later admitted that she regretted. The nude posing did however terminate her contract with 7th Heaven.

Jessica Biel continues to live her life as an aspiring actress, with considerable potential. Besides acting, her hobbies include ballet, soccer, yoga, and hiking. She is a former vegetarian, and an active member of PETA. She was also a spokeswoman for the cosmetics company, L'Oreal, in 2002. For the future, Biel has already filmed two movies, which have yet to be released, London and The Illusionist, and is constantly the subject of new movie offers. Jessica does plan to eventually complete her degree at Tufts University.
